Tornado Express was back at Tamworth 3 weeks after her 3 length demolition, looking to make it back to back wins. The aim was to win, and have the Benchmark rating for the $150,000 Qualifying heat in March. We were very confident in her chances, and as you would expect when she was a $1.35 favourite.
She jumped well and Mitchell Bell pressed forward, riding her like she was the best horse in the race. He managed to settle her outside the leader, giving her a perfect position to travel during the middle stages.
She kept travelling and rounding the bend it looked as though she was still in first gear. In the straight Mitch peeled out the middle of the track and dropped the handbrake. She bursted clear putting on 5 lengths at the 200m mark and was no chance of being beaten. The final 100m she was eased to the line scoring a comfortable 4.4 Length victory.
Thank you to Cody Morgan Racing who has brought this mare to another level and Mitchell Bell who should be thanking us for another sit and steer job 🤣. Jokes aside he summed it up well and rode with plenty of confidence.
Congratulations to our patient ownership group who are on a fantastic ride. We also had 3yo Xerxes who ran a good place on Debut in Race 4.
