HOW DO WE SELECT OUR HORSES

Firstly, Group One Thoroughbreds has a strict selection process which starts weeks before the sales. We reconise that breeding patterns and pedigree do play a role in finding the right horse. We analyse every horse in the catalogue and create our first short list that meets our breeding and pedigree criteria. Physical inspections at the sales complex starts about 1 weeks before the sale. We could have as many as 300 horses from our first short list.

We eliminate horses that do not standing up mentally to the pressure of the sales and suspect conformation and we create a second shortlist.

The horses that have made the second shorlist are passed onto well renowned bloodstock agent Sheamus Mills, SP Bloodstock and all our trainers for them to start inspections and to rate them from 1 to 10. We also inspect the horses for a second time with a more stringent view on athleticism, length of stride, shoulder strength and good hind-quarter to name a few and note our ratings. Once all inspection ratings are recieved we catorgarise our final inspection list.

Finally, we pass our final inspection list to Dr C Lawlor to perform a clinical examination and have the x rays inspected. Horses that do not have x-rays available are automatically struck of our list. Only horses that are 100% clean by Dr C Lawlor go on our final purchase list. This could be as little as 20 horses. We then value all our final list, we do not bid on any horses that reach a price above our value. If we are successful in purchasing horses.

Finally, Group One Thoroughbreds cross reference the trainers ratings on our successful horses to choose the trainer that best suits the horse.

HOW DO I GET PAID MY PRIZE MONEY?
