Our pocket rocket Considered continued her remarkable rise with victory in the Northern Rivers qualifier of the Country Championships on Sunday 15 February at Coffs Harbour Racecourse.

The win extended her streak to five in a row and secured her place in the $1 million Country Championships Final on 4 April at Royal Randwick Racecourse.

Coming off a strong last-start win at Rosehill four weeks earlier, she was well supported at $2.15 and justified the confidence. In a race packed with early speed, Andrew Mallyon allowed her to settle midfield – slightly further back than anticipated – but she travelled strongly throughout.

Held up briefly on straightening, Mallyon waited patiently before the gap appeared at the 300m. Once clear, she accelerated sharply, putting a margin on her rivals. A roughie made ground late, but she was tough over the final 100 metres, scoring by close to a length with a further five lengths back to third.

Trainer Matthew Dunn was delighted post-race.

“Geez she did a good job. Ended up a bit further back than I anticipated but the tempo was strong. Once she dove through she tries her little heart out and was way too good.”

Her record now stands at five wins and three placings from eight starts, banking nearly $300,000 in prizemoney. She currently sits a $6 second favourite with Sportsbet for the Final.
