COMMUNICATION
At Group One Thoroughbreds, we pride ourselves on being industry leaders in communication. Our dedicated Racing Manager, Jeremiah, is readily available via both email and phone to address any inquiries you may have regarding your thoroughbred’s career.
We provide comprehensive weekly updates, including video, photo, and audio content, while your horse is in training. As your horse approaches the thrilling phase of racing, you will receive timely notifications for nominations, acceptances, pre-race trainer reports, and post-race jockey and trainer reports.
In addition to these updates, we also offer regular video updates during your horse’s spelling and pre-training periods, ensuring you remain informed at every stage of your horse’s journey. Our Racing Manager actively attends most trials and race days in the Sydney region, delivering additional insights and updates that are not typically provided by stables.
TRANSPARENCY
At Group One Thoroughbreds, we are committed to upholding the highest standards of transparency throughout the entirety of our relationship with our valued owners. Our goal is to maintain a culture of openness and honesty, ensuring that they are fully informed about all aspects of their ownership journey, including costs, capabilities, and performance expectations.
Recognising that horse ownership can be a complex and nuanced endeavor, we acknowledge that setbacks and disappointments are an unfortunate reality. In the event that your horse sustains an injury or fails to meet performance expectations, we will be open and forthright with you, providing clear guidance and recommendations on the best course of action.
In line with our commitment to the welfare and best interests of your horse, we work collaboratively with our owners to determine whether it is in their thoroughbreds best interest to relocate to a new racing jurisdiction or to pursue a change of ownership. If deemed necessary, we will also advocate for a transfer to a suitable racing division or classification, ensuring that your thoroughbred has every opportunity to remain competitive and achieve its full potential.
Throughout this process, owners voice and perspective are of utmost importance, and our owners have the opportunity to participate in and influence key decisions regarding their horse’s ownership and racing career.
SELECTION
The procurement of high-caliber thoroughbred racing stock is a cornerstone of our success at Group One Thoroughbreds. Our meticulous approach to selection and placement involves a comprehensive and multi-stage process, designed to ensure that we acquire horses with the highest potential for excellence.
At the outset, our expert team carefully examines the sale catalogues, evaluating a vast array of information on each lot, including stallion pedigree, vendor reputation, and physical conformation. From this initial review, we create a shortlist of prospective purchases, which we then further refine through a series of on-site inspections at the sales complex. Our team personally evaluates each horse, assessing its temperament, conformation, and athleticism, in order to identify those with exceptional potential.
The selection process is further streamlined through a multi-stage evaluation, with our team narrowing down the pool of prospects at each stage. The final shortlist is then subject to a thorough veterinary examination, overseen by esteemed veterinarian, Dr. Chris Lawler. As a matter of principle, we do not pursue the purchase of any horse with compromised x-ray or scoping reports.
Following this rigorous assessment, we engage in a thorough valuation of each horse that has passed the veterinary examination. We adhere strictly to our budget, ensuring that our purchase price does not exceed the value we have assigned to the horse. This disciplined approach allows us to maintain a stable and competitive pricing strategy, while also avoiding the financial burden of overpaying for a horse.
Ultimately, our team of experts is left with a curated list of 10-20 horses, from which we will carefully select the most promising prospects to bid on at the sale. Once a purchase is made, we engage in a meticulous process of matching the horse with a suitable trainer, carefully considering factors such as the horse’s temperament, conformation, and racing style.
Throughout this process, our commitment to the well-being and success of our horses remains unwavering. By combining thorough research, expert evaluation, and a disciplined approach to budgeting, we have established a reputation as a discerning and effective buyer of thoroughbred racing stock.
