Three year old filly Compel made the perfect start to her racing career at Doomben, producing an impressive performance to win on debut.

Compel jumped cleanly from the barriers and Ryan Maloney was positive early, taking her straight to the lead where she travelled comfortably throughout. Rounding the home turn, Ryan still had plenty of horse underneath him and, after a few reminders in the straight to keep her focused on the task, she responded strongly to pull away and score by a comfortable 1.5 lengths.

It was an exciting first look at Compel on raceday and a fantastic ride from Ryan, who gave her every opportunity to show what she could do.

A massive thank you to Chris, Corey and the entire Munce Racing team for the work they have put into the filly. Compel was our first runner for the stable, so to kick off the partnership with a winner was a fantastic result.

Group One Thoroughbreds Racing Manager Jeremiah Azzopardi praised both Compel’s performance and the preparation from the Munce Racing team.

“She’s a filly we have always had plenty of time for and she has shown good ability right from the start. She came into the race nicely prepared off the back of two good trials, and despite the drift in the market, it was a very easy watch.

“We’ll look to take her through the grades now and she will likely step up to Saturday company on the back of that performance. It was also great to start our partnership with Munce Racing with a winner, and hopefully it’s the first of plenty more success together.”
